Helping you heal your relationship with food and body image
Meet Abbie
I was inspired to study dietetics after recovering from my own eating disorder in my early teens. While I didn’t have the verbiage then, I’ve since realized that many nutrition professionals unfortunately lack in body image counseling strategies and trauma-informed care. This is why I am so passionate about the work I do!
Born and raised in Iowa, I graduated from Iowa State University in 2012 with a B.S. in Dietetics, and completed my dietetic internship in the Omaha, NE area. I have worked in a variety of settings in my (as of 2026) 13-year career: long term care, community/schools, retail grocery stores, pediatric feeding clinics; as well as outpatient, PHP and residential levels of care specializing in the treatment of eating disorders. While my family moved back to Iowa in 2023, I have continued my Minnesota licensure and am able to provide telehealth services at this time.
In June 2023, I joined the Eating Disorder Coalition of Iowa (EDCI) Board and have held many volunteer positions in that time: Professional Membership Chair, Healthcare Training Committee, Development Committee Chair, and currently President-Elect. Compared to other states, Iowa has inadequate treatment accessibility and insurance coverage for services. My goal with this organization is to help advocate for ED awareness, prevention, and improved support/treatment access for Iowans struggling with eating disorders. In my free time I love spending time with friends and family, deepening my yoga/meditation practice, and exploring new creative outlets. You can always count on me to have a new book, TV show, movie or podcast recommendation for you!
